This is a great little house with lots of character, lots a space, and an unbeatable location. You can walk everywhere from this place, campus, Northgate, restaurants, the Blinn bus route and a convenient store are all close by! The house it located near the new Second Street Lofts, kind of behind Traditions on a huge corner lot. I spent the entire summer remodeling the interior and it's now super cute and colorful- every girl loves this house inside. I've also done a lot of work to the outside of the house, but I'm only one girl so I can't say it looks like a doll house from the street; however, it doesn't lack curb appeal entirely. The landlord inherited the house and was told that it was actually built by A&M engineer students in the 1940's and that it won some awards from the school (dunno if thats true but you'd probably believe it if you took a tour).

The house is 3 bdrm/2 bath. The room available is the back room, its like a little sanctuary- it has 6 huge old fashion windows, the entire house is surrounded by bamboo so its full privacy (seriously, I don't even have curtains). You can paint and decorate the room however you want, the landlord doesn't care. There are hardwood floors throughout the house (except kitchen/bathrooms). Ample parking. Huge carport which is used as a porch. There's a swing in the side yard. Working fireplace. Lots of windows. High ceilings. Pets allowed. Its probably the best deal in the neighborhood! The Factory is around the corner and their apartment prices are practically double, The Second Street Lofts are our neighbors and they are the most expensive place in town.

The two other girls who live there are really laid back, nice, fun, averagely clean, students at A&M. One of them is a senior, originally from Austin, she has a little dog (who is very well trained), she will be graduating and moving in May. The other is a Junior, originally from Fort Worth, she will be there until the end of July, which is how long I need to find someone for. However if I can't find anyone else, I would consider a shorter lease.
I am moving back home and really hate to leave this house I worked so hard on! Really its a gem!

No matter what they say about opposites attracting, my own experience has taught me that when it comes to roommates, it's better if your personalities are similar. So I'll tell you what I'm like, and if that's you too, let me know!

Most of all I'm a quiet person at home. It's not like I NEVER go out or NEVER have people over, but when I do it's pretty low-key. It would stress me out to come home and find fifteen people hanging out the windows and passed out in the front yard, know what I mean?
I'm clean. Not freak-clean, but I need things to look nice. I don't mind doing the sweeping/mopping/dusting etc (in the shared areas...you gotta fend for your own room), but be a pal and don't just leave your ---- everywhere, you know? I have nice things (I think so,anyhow..I'm workin' on it)) and it's really relaxing for the mind to be in a pretty environment. (If you've never had that before, you'll be surprised.)

I think I'm open-minded... (I know, who would admit 'man,I'm one closed-minded son-of-a-b----'!), but I really do think so. If it matters to you, I place myself on the liberal side, but I listen to Air America AND Rush, 'cause I think it's important to see both sides. I don't bring up social/political issues unless invited, so you don't have to worry about that, but I just wanted you know, so that if YOU dislike people with certain views, well, you can stay away.

I like music, theatre, reading, and movies. The third 'bedroom' is a full-on library...I would say there are about 1300 books. (the rest are at the 'rents place.) My hard drive has 33,000 songs. I have a little under 700 DVDs (but I add 2-5 per month avg.) You are welcome to partake as long as you can play nice with others' things and put 'em back when you're done. : )
I have done my share of theatre/musical theatre but I'm not a 'theatre geek'. (though if you are, I bet I could manage) I do still sing, but I too can be a pal and I'll do it when you're not home. :)

I also like animals. You need to like them too, because I have two dogs and a bird. (and some fish, but no one ever counts fish.) So if you have a pet, it's welcome (we'll talk about cats, my dogs aren't familiar w/cats). FYI, one dog is a foster and so may not be here when you are, but right now I'm saying I have two.
There are stables on both sides of the street around me, so if you have a horse you might be able to hook something up with one of them.

About that...I'm just outside of town. So it's country but not COUNTRY. You can see Kyle Field and The Bush Library. Wellborn Rd is about a mile from here, and then obviously TAMU is right alongside that. So if you MUST be on a shuttle stop, you won't be, but I swear it's not far to campus if you have a car.
The house is a decent size,one-story, with hardwood floors/linoleum/tile (but I do have area rugs down). There are two bathrooms but only one tub/shower, so we'd share that. Because of that, I'd prefer a female roommate, but as I said, I'm open-minded, so it might depend. Everything is furnished (I have a range of taste,but I would say it skews vintage-modern), except the bedroom in question, but even that has a twin bed & nightstands. I have a washer & dryer. (woo-hoo!) There's a garage to stash extra stuff in.
There's a big yard, but it's not fenced (which sucks.)

What there is not:

Cable TV. (boo!) I know. But between the 1300 books and 700 DVDs and hard drive full of tunes (and WORK!!), I stay occupied. (plus I buy TV shows that interest me on DVD or use Hulu.) If you MUST have cable and you want to sign up, I don't mind.
House-wired internet. (I have a Sprint broadband wireless card, so I use that.It's great.) If you have a wireless card, awesome. If you don't, we maybe can share mine. (It just plugs into your PC like a memory stick.)

I don't smoke (cigarettes or otherwise), but I don't care if you do (outside,though). I keep alcohol here & don't care if you do too. (Just want to let you know I'm quiet, not a prude. Difference!)

That's about all I can think of. Looking at what rooms & apartments are going for, rent will be $400 & 1/2 utilities. I have had utilities range from $81.00-165.00, so it's not bad so far. There won't be a contract, but let me know what your plans are (one semester, a few months, etc).

Let me know how long you need to stay, when you need to move in, if you have pets & if you have furniture we need to make room for. I have pictures if the situation calls for them.
