JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary responsibility is to provide support to Manufacturing Engineers by creating, modifying maintaining assembly and test documentation in a production environment. Produce documentation within defined templates and transfer existing documentation to new formats.  Assist Manufacturing and Product Engineers in developing procedures in an unstructured prototype environment. Responsible for the change management and document management processes of procedures using formal change order processes. Write, compile, format, edit, proofread, and copyedit a variety of documents. Proofread, review and edit all materials for accurate use of grammar and content. Coordinates the display of graphics, layout of pages, and pre-print production for a variety of documents. Ensures that all documents meet established content standards and established format and presentation style standards. Interviews subject-matter experts, attends project meetings as needed, and manages his /her project hours. Produce technical documentation that are clear and easily followed and understood by all intended readers. Work with assembly and test personnel in gathering information to ensure that the documentation accurately reflects the “as built” condition.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND:

An AA or BS degree and a minimum of 3 years experience working in and supporting a manufacturing environment as a technical writer. Without a degree, a minimum of 6 years experience working in and supporting a manufacturing environment as a technical writer. Additional experience working with a new product introduction (NPI) team is a definite plus. Familiarity with electromechanical manufacturing required. Experience with PLM systems is desired. Experience with SolidWorks is highly desired. Familiarity with commercial and military electronics building practices and components. Ability to read and manipulate drawings. Must be able to work in a small, fast-paced, flexible manufacturing team as product is being developed. Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in ambiguous situations where only limited standardization and structure exist. Ability to develop, execute and track manufacturing tasks within a tight development schedule. Ability to manipulate digital photographic images. Advanced-level skills with the following applications: Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator in a Windows/PC-based environment. Familiarly with Framemaker and MS Project is highly desired. Organization/planning, communication (oral and written), time management, conflict management, ability to manage stress, deadlines and work independently. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of co-workers. Ability to analyze and solve problems quickly and accurately. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Must have close visual acuity to perform such tasks as preparing and analyzing data and figures, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, and visual identification of small parts and for the operation of mechanical devices.

<b>Training:</b>  On the job training is provided and lasts approximately 4-6 weeks. During this time, you will work with a mentor that will introduce you to the software applications that we use, our hardware manuals, and other technical documentation.

<b>Requirements:</b>

<br>
<li>Must be self motivated and a quick learner
<br>
<li>Ability to work independently on projects with minimal supervision
<br>
<li>Ability to work in a single office environment
<br>
<li>Must have strong writing and proofreading skills and a good technical vocabulary
<br>
<li>Must pay great attention to detail
<br>
<li>Experience with HTML and JavaScript coding preferred
<br>
<li>PC and/or technical knowledge is a plus
<br>
