Well... the tax man got me.

I got a good deal on this truck because it has a few easy fix items.... but taxes came and I owed more than I had expected.... by a lot.... so I have to let it go.

If you don't know anything about diesels... this probably isn't the truck for you.

Here is the short story...

This is an 04 Dodge 2500 Cummins Diesel - (305hp)

[THE GOOD]
AC - works
Starts and runs well... it pulls strong and no excessive smoke.
It has a tuner on it...
Transmission was rebuilt by previous owner and it shifts solid.
The condition is reasonable for its age.
I am selling because I need to ... not because I want to.

[THE BAD]
1-The fan clutch had the wires ripped out of it... not reparable (by me anyway) - Replacement needed.
2-This model has the APPS instead of the TPS - it is bad and needs to be replaced. Surging happens mostly when cold. (this is a better than factory replacement http://www.dodgecumminsapps.com/) the upside is that its an easy fix. (Note: because of the surging I can't let anyone test drive it.... I am more than happy to take you for a drive but I am not willing to take the risk that someone doesn't know how to deal with the surging)
3-It has relatively high mileage.... but the engine was either replaced/rebuilt or was really well taken care of because it runs like my 07 that has half the mileage.
4-There are ABS codes that will need to be addressed... most likely just replacing sensors and basic maintenance items. Brakes do function just fine though from my experience.
5- it has a few dents and scrapes here and there... nothing major though and nothing that requires fixing... you can drive it like it is .... they are minor and do not impair any function or safety - (see pics)

Here is the longer-ish story,

I bought this truck to be kind of a hot-rod / toy. The problems are something that are pretty easy fixes and I can do the work myself. I have driven the truck about a hundred miles total because of the issues. Mostly making sure I know what issues I need to address. Right as I was about to buy all the parts to make it right, I got my tax bill.... sooo... it is time pass it along.

As I mentioned, I don't really want to sell it... but with taxes and already having a 3500 5.9... I can't justify keeping it.

Because of needing the APPS replaced it does surge occasionally. Thus, I can't allow any test drives and you will need to sign something stating you are aware of this fact if you buy the truck... I am not going to play around with someone trying to start something over this if they don't know what they are doing and crash into something.

I will give you a ride if you have the money.

This will be a local only, cash only , in-person only transaction. No 3rd parties, no shipping companies, none of that craigslist scam business.

If you do the work yourself I estimate you will be able to replace the items I have identified and service the truck properly for about 1200-1500 dollars.

A bit more on the repair items.... except for the APPS, I suggest you go with factory dodge/ram parts... there is a big quality (and price) difference.

The repairs are pretty straight forward and there are quality youtube or other guides and require only a decent tool set, you don't need to be a diesel mechanic to fix these items.

Here is what I was going to do to make this truck a solid daily driver.
1- the Timbo APPS
2- the fan clutch
3- ABS sensors and complete brake fluid change.
4- Oil/filter change
5- fuel filter change
6- transmission filter / fluid change

I am wanting to get what I paid for it but there might be an ever so small amount of wiggle room... but only for someone who has read the entire ad and is a reasonable individual.

email only
I am happy to answer any questions about the truck.
All negotiations will be done in person cash-in-hand. (in a public place)
