I received was given this vehicle around 10/3/25 after my old car was totaled in an accident. About a month later it broke down in Caldwell and was left at Wilde Auto Plus on 11/5, where it was diagnosed with a bad heater hose (receipt available). They quoted just over $500 for the repair, so I chose to have it towed home since I was already looking for another car.
A heater hose typically costs $30–$50 and is usually a straightforward DIY repair, though the Captiva’s engine bay is tighter than most.
Known Issues:
- Bad heater hose (needs replacement – not drivable as-is)
- Small coolant leak (coolant also needs to be refilled)
- Smoke smell from previous owner
- Front right bumper and headlight damage
- Passenger door handle works intermittently
- Front right tire flat; Low tire pressure light
Additional Info from Previous Owner:
- Oil was changed and coolant added
- Brake pads are still good
- Battery age unknown (the carfax says the battery was serviced around 91,000 miles)
- Tires likely need rotation
- Driver interior door handle was replaced (spare handle included in spare tire compartment)
- Air compressor, Fix-a-Flat, and jumper cables included
Previous owner also noted that due to the small coolant leak, oil and coolant should be checked/changed regularly and transmission fluid checked each visit.
If you’re good with cars, this is a cheap fix and a solid project.
I’m happy to show the car in person and share the official CARFAX report. I have also included some free seat covers (I think that is what they are) as seen in the picture.
Price is negotiable. Title in hand.
Vehicle will need to be towed or the heater hose repaired on site. It is not drivable in its current condition and driving it can damage the engine.
